The No Child Left Behind federal program provides low-income students attending Program Improvement (PI) schools recieve FREE tutoring by a state-approved provider. Please read below for tentative timeline changes.

SEPTEMBER 28, 2012 – Mail home brochures ( a change from last year when they mailed during the summer)

OCTOBER 25, 2012 – First Student Application Deadline

November 15, 2012 – Tutoring begins

May 31, 2013 – Tutoring ends

FREE Fieldtrip opportunity for 8th Grade Students

Tuesday, April 17 8:00am to 2:30pm

Nokia Theatre showing of new film BULLY

 

Trip slips (Permission plus Medical form) are due to Science Class teachers tomorrow, Thursday 4-12-12 in order to arrange buses.

The purpose of the film is to raise awareness of the issue of bullying and to encourage students to take an active role in supporting a safe and respectful school environment. Following the event will be a brief panel discussion to explore strategies for preventing and intervening with bullying. After the event, at Reed we will continue to engage students in dialogues and activities to reinforce the positive messages and expected behaviors. Pre and post lessons will also take place through Science classes.

Lunch will be provided for all students on the fieldtrip.

 

Students not attending the film fieldtrip will attend regular classes, with substitute teachers for certain courses on campus.

Busses will depart REED just after 8am and return near the end of the school day.

IMPORTANT: Families may complete the form online BUT they must have the individual numerical code that is on the paper survey (to determine the correct response rate).

If you are completing the form on paper, all forms are to be turned in by Thursday, March 28 to your child’s teacher.
