Welcome to the 2011 – 12 school year! It is going to be a year of learning, enrichment, fun and involvement.
Our new students are bright, polite and enthusiastic! Added to that, they have come to us with enthusiastic parents who are willing to become involved in our school community.
There are many opportunities for student involvement outside the regular classroom. Watch for art competitions, music competitions, Spelling Bees, Geography Bees, Hip Hop Dance, lunch time Intra-Murals and Students Run L.A. There are the many programs offered after school by Beyond the Bell including the Homework Club, Sports, Dance and Drill Team.
Research shows that students are more successful in school when their parents are involved. I hope that all parents are involved. I hope that all parents are involved in some way through one of our nine different parent groups on campus. your involvement can come in many forms including time on campus, with PTSA, in organized meetings or volunteering materials for a variety of events.
I look forward to working with all of you, as a school community, during the school year to make Walter Reed Middle School a better place.
